MARSH NESTERS

The Red-Winged Blackbird is a common

resident songbird that nests where there

is standing water and vegetation.

The male is black with red and yellow shoulder

patches that can be concealed or displayed when

they want to be noticed by a potential mate.

Females are crisply streaked and dark brown making them blend more with the dense grass-like marsh vegetation where they nest.
